Even on holiday I somehow found a way to finish and upload this.
So yes my first try at cel shading. I have to admit its not as easy as it looks. I pretty proud of it though. There's a few mistakes, espeically the feckin' forehead protector, I messed that up well and truly. I'll adjust it when I get the chance and upload it when I can get on the internet again. Were staying in the middle of nowhere and I can't get on the internet. Also just as a little side note, I have been online quite a few times this week but I haven't been responding to messages or anything. The reason being I was on my phone and it was being retarded and not letting me reply to messages. So yeah, sorry about that. I won't be able to reply to any messages for this submission until next saturday or sunday unless I somehow miraculously get and internet connection where I'm staying.  work: head- needs shading shoes- bolder lines all- shading (is cell shading really that hard?  ) well i applaud you thus far and hope you improve to heights i will only hope of reaching. nice job too -- If you have a great passion and an even larger dream, then follow it. It is better to have failed after attempting to fulfill them then to have never tried and to have never known if you could have made it and regret the choices that you did make. -Rin(me  First time with cel-shading you say? Marvelous work my friend! I trend I have been seeing with your art is you pay such great attention to lighting and it brings such a liveliness to the colors here, right down the the hair casting a shadow on Tsunade's face. Great choice of colours as well! When I did it the first time, it was difficult too, knowing where to put all the separation of colours, but this is stellar thus far, especially for a first time!
-- Read Itachi vs Orochimaru here!  Cel shading's not really 'hard' so to speak, it's just slightly more difficult. With cel shading you can normally only use at max 3 different colours for shading so you have to be very precise on where you put the shadows and I get a weird mental block when it comes to placing shadows. Plus depending on where the light is coming from will have an effect on how many shadows you can have and in this picture the light is coming from above them so I really didn't have any idea where to put the shadows for their hair, especially Tsunade's since it's sort of flowing upwards. Basically I'm saying I'm really bad at placing shadows...

 Tsunade's face is really the only thing I like about this picture. I don't really like cel shading because it's so different from my normal overly complicated style, it seems too simple and the placing of shadows is a lot more difficult. It looks easy but it's really not. can you shade when you normally do art? if not then that maybe something you should practice. oh and try working on the shading for clouds too. they are "fluffy" so they have tons of shading and shadowing all over them. good luck to you on your future endevours! -- If you have a great passion and an even larger dream, then follow it. But I prefer soft and more detailed shading better as well if i'm going to color at all.
